Power of our words
Our words are so powerful but not many people are aware of the multitude of their words that can either encourage someone, bring comfort, inspire, gentle correction can bring about loving change.
But loaded words can bring hurt, broken relationships, hate , bitterness, unforgiveness, shame, gossip, discourage others. We highly likely have been on the receiving end of these personally, we know can be damage. Also let’s not forget we have most certainly used loaded words to others causing damage and hurt to them.
This is not about perfection and not speaking the truth but more about being conscious and thoughtful about the words we chose to say to others.
A desired correction in behaviour can be said in love and with respect. A person being rude to you can be met with a assertive “I will not engage in conversation when your speaking to me like that”. There’s many ways to deal with conflict. I suggest you could check out trusted techniques on positive conflict communication. I’ve personally tried them and found them effective and also come away from the situation feeling better about how I handled the situation.
This is not about perfection but more about self awareness and the control of the tongue. I still personally have moments were I need to improve but if your 60% or 80% better this is going to impact you and the world around positively.
Think about the person in your life who listens, speaks kindly but tells you the truth. Bet they hold a special place in your life. You can really trust them and feel safe with them especially talking about the challenging and good stuff.
